Welcome to Ohio Valley Woodworking
My bucket list has always included building
unique, one of a kind fine furniture for the public to enjoy. In
the last few years I have been led to the path to make this
dream come true. Many of my items are of my own design both in
wood selection and design. I enjoy mixing hardwoods
species in a design that become integrated for both its use and
eye appeal.
Many of my items are
produced using Ohio hardwoods that have been air dried for at
least 8 years. Air dried wood allows for a more
vibrant color but also allows for
the environmental changes in the wood. Some designs
are run of the mill "normal" and some are exotic in design as
well as species of wood selected. Nature's blemishes and
errors in the wood are kept in tack unless it would be a
structural issue.
Although local species of
woods are used in my designs, most exotics are available for
your custom piece.

As you will see in my Gallery, photos are
taken during the process to document the assembly process.
I offer several finishes from natural Tung
oil to two part urethanes for ultimate durability. Lacquers,
varnishes and shellac finishes are utilized as well.
All wood that is in contact (or could
be) with food is finished with a grade A, FDA approved finish.
I recommend this to be reapplied in those areas at
least once a
year. |
